Juliette Chapel Wedding - Dahlonega, Ga.
I photographed a wedding at Juliette Chapel in Dahlonega, Ga - but it was last Friday and last Friday was SNOW in Atlanta - well - really all of North Georgia - but definitely Atlanta. And when it snows in Atlanta - Atlanta SHUTS DOWN.
While at first I didn’t believe the snow reports - after seeing ice ALREADY in the parking lot of the Kombvcha kitchen - and the nudging from Leah - AND the option to stay up in Dahlonega the night before the wedding at a hotel next door to the venue (instead of driving up the day of) - ALL THESE THINGS FELL INTO PLACE and I decided to drive up Thursday night instead of Friday Day of Wedding.
Whew. Good thing too.
Woke up that morning at The Limelight Inn - there was NO SNOW. But an hour later at 7:30am it started coming down and it didn’t stop for most of the day. And then it turned into ice. So yeah. Good thing I drove up the night before.
Juliette Chapel is about 150 yards from the Limelight Inn so everything was SUPER EASY. And beautiful. BEAUTIFUL.
And really - everything just kind of fell into place for the things to happen for Kate & Josh. Not everyone could make it to the wedding because of the weather - some people even arrived into town but because of the smaller roadways and hills around their Airbnb or hotel - they couldn’t make it to the venue. So we were very fortunate that the Limelight Inn had rooms available AND that they were soooooo super accommodating. In fact - by the day of the wedding - everyone attending had booked alllll the rooms at the inn. So that was pretty awesome and magical logistically. We all partied freely not worrying that anyone was going to be driving away on the icy roads.
By Saturday morning all the main roads were plowed and cleared and everything was melting nicely. The drive back to Atlanta was beautiful and peaceful since most people still weren’t driving around.
Yeah that was a fun wedding.
